Renovations & Restorations
| The difference between a renovation and a restoration is usually the desire to have it done as opposed to the need to have it done. The difference between remodeling and renovating is when you remodel it's for a new look and when you renovate it's to change the use or make it more functional. Determining exactly what a customer hopes to accomplish, is the most important task when consulting as to the needs of our clientele.
Painters Choice will assist you in figuring out exactly what you are trying to do and how best to accomplish it, then we will configure the some plans, needed to help make your project a reality. Even the most precise plans sometimes need to be altered to allow for the unforeseen. Painters Choice always allows a 10 - 20% allowance for just that and if it isn't required it stays where it belongs, in your pocket. The amount of allowance is relative to the size of the project and smaller projects require less of an allowance. The unforeseen could be anything inside a wall or under a floor that can only be assessed by having the original plans, both to your home and any previous changes made. In the absence of these plans, anything unseen and not planned for, becomes the unforeseen. Most load bearing (supporting)walls can be determined without a plan. Walls carrying plumbing/electrical can also be determined for the most part, but without plans those observations can not always confirm which walls and floor areas are 100% free of such obstructions. For example; if a wall has an outlet or a sink above, below or even on it, it certainly can't be said to be "unforeseen", overlooked and unforeseen are not the same thing. Painters Choice only completes interior renovations and as such if you require outside walls altered or moved, we would be unable to complete that portion of the project for you. We would suggest using a company that does that kind of work on a regular basis. Once your outside portion is completed, would be able to finish the interior portion for you, likely at a lower overall cost than a building contractor and with focused attention on the details of your project. You get to deal directly with the person who is going to make those changes and finish things as you want them to be. It's the kind of hands on approach, you would take if you were able to complete the project yourself; giving your project, "your" personal touch.
